Capstone Collegiate Communities (C3) will build three homes for Glenwood, Inc. The project, known as The Hope Cottages, will provide housing for 16 individuals impacted by autism spectrum disorder. The houses will be staffed and managed by Glenwood and will be located on Glenwood’s beautiful campus in the forests behind Liberty Park in Birmingham. The project is a creative collaboration with C3’s community partners and many gracious donors to build the homes for Glenwood free of charge. Currently, C3 has raised 50% of their $2.2 million goal. Individuals or corporations interested in contributing to this wonderful project should contact Jim Beatty: (205) 999-7140 or jbeatty@capstonemail.com.
“We are delighted to build these homes designed by Nequette Architecture & Design. We are grateful for the opportunity to give 16 people who deserve a home in a beautiful setting, just that,” said John Vawter, principal of C3.
The Hope Cottages will be part of Glenwood’s capital campaign, Renowned Care, Renewed Hope: The Campaign for Glenwood, which is a $10 million campaign to expand the nonprofit’s available services for families across Alabama. C3’s plans for The Hope Cottages will provide a dramatic increase to the number of residential placements Glenwood can offer. And more importantly, they will provide a comfortable, safe home and peace of mind for struggling families. Construction began this month, and a groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for May 4, 2017.
“We are fortunate to have the support of C3. Their contribution will do much more than provide a home for people with autism; it will fundamentally change the lives of entire families,” said Philip Young, who in addition to being capital campaign co-chair is also a Glenwood board member and a parent of a child with autism who lives at Glenwood.
C3 has taken it upon themselves to donate their services, and solicit donations from their partners and the community. Their selfless effort will forever change the lives of families in our community. For more information and to follow the progress please visit: www.thehopecottages.com
